About the Cover

Cover Figure

The artwork on the cover is by Harold Plople (courtesy National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression). Mr. Plople studied at Portland State University and Los Angeles City College. “My father rejected me, my stepfather abused me, and my mother was a drunk. It has taken me 50 years to try to come to grips with life. I am a recovered alcoholic and take medication to prevent psychotic episodes.” Mr. Plople has lived on the streets many times, has thrown away many beautiful paintings, and now paints primarily on the subject of the homeless because he can relate to that situation.
